Hot August Nights Announces New Event in Virginia City
Venue Addition Creates Wave of Excitement for Car Enthusiasts.
Hot August Nights brings Nevada history to life when the streets of the historic Comstock town of Virginia City fill with a bevy of classic cars Friday, July 31 and Saturday, Aug. 1 from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. In advance of the 29th annual Hot August Nights main event, officials have announced that Virginia City will be the host venue for the 2015 official kickoff location with nightly cruises, a celebrity show-n-shine, poker run, and free live entertainment.
“Hot August Nights is pleased to announce Virginia City as the official kickoff location for the 2015 event,” says Tony Marini, executive director of Hot August Nights. “Known for its deep-rooted Nevada history, Virginia City allows visitors to step back in time—a feeling that our participants want and expect from our event. We are looking forward to expanding our partnership with Virginia City to offer a new layer of excitement for our participants.”
Car enthusiasts can revel in the nightly cruises from 7-9 p.m. as classic automotive beauties parade down Virginia City’s main drag, C Street, past the town’s historic wooden boardwalks and buildings. A celebrity show-n-shine takes place on Saturday, Aug. 1 from 11 a.m.-3 p.m., where six winners will be awarded from the stage at the Delta parking lot at 6 p.m. The event will offer free live entertainment, food, beverage, and the Hot August Nights “Oldies” booth filled with memorabilia and souvenir merchandise.
“We’ve always enjoyed our partnership with Hot August Nights and are even more excited to see it grow as Virginia City becomes the official kickoff location for the 2015 annual event,” Deny Dotson, tourism director for the Virginia City Tourism Commission, says. “We can’t think of a better venue for these incredible classics to be displayed. We’ve hosted many big events in Virginia City and we’re ready for the thousands of attendees and participants this event will bring. Everyone will feel like they’ve truly stepped back in time.”
Visitors can choose to make it a weekend experience by staying in any of the 200 rooms of Virginia City’s notable restored hotels, motels, or vintage furnished bed and breakfasts. Free trailer parking will be available at the Virginia City Arena & Fairgrounds on F Street near the V&T Train Depot.
Open to all 1976 and older model vehicles; the Virginia City event registration is $40.
