The fourth annual 911 Memorial Mt. Grant Challenge will be held Saturday, September 13 in Hawthorne. The 17-mile hike, in honor of those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001, begins near Walker Lake and end at the peak of Mt. Grant (11,239 elev.), where finishers will receive a commemorative medallion created to celebrate Nevada’s Sesquicentennial. Registration information is available at 911challenge.org.

As the highest peak in Mineral County, Mt. Grant makes for astounding views of the surrounding area. It is said that on a clear day, those who conquer Mt. Grant can see all the way to Yosemite National Park in California.
