American Heroes Honored in Virginia City Memorial Day Parade
Celebrate Memorial Day Weekend in historic Virginia City, with the annual Celebration of Heroes Parade on Saturday, May 23 at noon. Taking place along C Street, the parade honors the memory of those who paid the ultimate sacrifice.
The grand marshals for this year’s Celebration of Heroes Parade are Brenda and Greg Bolander of Virginia City. The Bolanders established a program to hang military banners along C Street to honor both fallen and active duty military members and veterans from Virginia City. The program is in remembrance of their son Bryan Bolander who was killed in action in 2008 during his fourth tour of duty in Iraq. His was the first banner to be hung.
Parade entries include veteran’s groups, classic car clubs, equestrian groups, a mariachi band, marching units and more. Parade entries are accepted until Friday, May 22. Download the parade form online or call 775-847-7501.
